Family Safari Experience
East Africa has two main attractions that are ideal for building a once-in-a-lifetime family holiday. Firstly, the many safari lodges across the various national parks offer spectacular wildlife viewing as well as the chance to immerse yourself in ancient cultures. Secondly, East Africa's coastline features white sand beaches and warm, Indian Ocean waters that make for an idyllic family beach holiday.
The safari lodges and camps are generally more suited to older children and many come with an age restriction against under 12’s. This is because some of the camps have potential risks to very young children such as no fencing, proximity to rivers, steep steps or high walkways. Very early starts, late finishes and long days in a very bumpy vehicle can be a challenge for young children. Older children will not think twice, inevitably distracted by all the exciting wildlife and scenery that’s on offer.
The coastal resorts, do provide some very family-friendly destinations and are ideal if you're looking for a luxury family holiday. While the parents relax with a massage, the kids can be kept fully entertained by games and activities provided by the hotel and their qualified staff. You can split your time between relaxing by the pool and going out to sea for snorkeling and scuba diving sessions. The Great Migration
The great wildebeest migration is one of the most phenomenal natural spectacles in the world. It is an annual movement by millions of wildebeest, accompanied by large numbers of zebra, Grant’s gazelle, Thompson’s gazelle, elands and impalas across the greater Masai Mara-Serengeti ecosystem.
From July to September the Mara welcomes the Great Migration of thousands of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara in Kenya. During the wildebeest migration, you will witness how the constant battle for survival makes the Migration Season a particularly exhilarating time to visit East Africa
